Wow... it's been over a month since my last post... I don't seem to get around to doing anything much...
Bin immer noch fleißig am Sticken, mein dritter AHRH-Block wächst, aber er wächst langsam. Dafür habe ich mal eben zwischendurch einen kleinen Quäker gestickt. Er stammt aus der "Pinkeep Story", der "Lover's Quaker" von Jardin Privé, gestickt mit Tentakulum Edelkirsch, das einen wunderschönen Farbverlauf hat.
I am still busy stitching AHRH, I am on my third block now but it seems to be taking forever... Could be due to the fact that I strayed and stitched something else in-between, the "Lover's Quaker" by Jardin Privé out of the "Pinkeep Story". Stitched on 40ct linen with Tentakulum Edelkirsch, a beautiful variegated thread.
Wir hatten in Houston einen Jahrhundertwinter - Temperaturen um den Gefriergrad, tagelang! Im Ernst, die Einheimischen waren so geschockt, dass sich manche sogar eine Winterjacke gekauft haben, die erste ihres Lebens! Wir als Europäer schmunzeln darüber, aber wir leben jetzt in einer Gegend, in der Winterreifen und Streusalz unbekannt sind, Eiskratzer für Autoscheiben gibt es nirgends, und bei Eisregen steht die Stadt still. Komplett. Alle Hauptverkehrsadern waren gesperrt. Na gut, bei Eisregen hätten auch Winterreifen nix genutzt, da ist es wirklich sicherer, einfach daheim zu bleiben. Aber das Wetter hatte auch schöne Seiten:
We have had a bad winter in Houston - freezing temperatures for days on end. It has never been this cold here for so long and I know people who have actually gone out and bought a winter jacket for the first time in their lives. We as Europeans laugh about it, but this is an area where winter tires and salt for the roads are totally unheard of. For nearly a whole day all the main freeways were closed because they were completely frozen over. Fair enough, in weather like that winter tires don't help anyway and it is safer to stay at home. So DH and DS (who was happy because the schools were closed!) enjoyed a day off.
Stay warm and safe, spring is just around the corner.

Horchma, dieses Teilchen ist einfach nur zuckersüß!!! Welch ein hübsches "Reinquetscherle"! Ich bin begeistert!!! Was machste denn draus? Weißt Du es schon?
Sabine, I love your Lover's Quaker, it is so beautiful! And the thread... such a great colour! :)
Here winter was cold also, but nothing compared to yours :) But everything is relative and people here complain if temperature drops below zero. They have never heard about winter tires either, the only thing they might use are the chains. We had a few days of spring, but today winter is back and it was even snowing this morning, which is something that happens only few days per year, at least in the middle of the peninsula.

Das ist ein schönes Teilchen, na ja, ist ja auch von Jardin Privé. Ich mag ihre Designs sehr gerne. Und was mir auch sehr gut gefällt, ist die Tatsache, dass man die Vorlagen nicht nur in Papierform, sondern auch als Email-Anhang bekommen kann.
Dieser Winter hat ja nicht nur in Texas, sondern auch in anderen südlichen Staaten alle Grenzen gesprengt.Ich kann mir das gar nicht vorstellen, irgendwo zu sein, wo man normalerweise keine Winterreifen braucht. Aber ich würde gerne so irgendwo sein, lol.Kommt mir traumhaft vor.

I love reading your blog and the 2 main reasons are: 1. you stitch :) 2. You write in 2 languages (even though I don't understand German...), it's always nice to read an understandable language :) I write bilingua too :)
